Which type of flooring should I choose?

How much flooring do I need?

Measure (in metres) the length and the width of your room. Multiply these two numbers together and the result is the total square metres of floor space. Add 10% onto this total (to account for wastage) and this is the total square metres of flooring you require.

 

How many packs should I buy?

Take the total square metres of floor space to be covered (see above) and divide this amount by the pack size (as listed). Round the resultant number up to the nearest one and this is the number of packs you require.

 

How can I pay?

How long does delivery take?

RETURNS FAQs

 

Can I return an order if it is damaged?

Any damage or faults must be reported to us immediately by emailing ADDRESS or calling NUMBER and quoting your order number. We will then make arrangements to retrieve and replace the goods as necessary. RETURNS NUMBER/CODE?

 

Can I return an order if I have changed my mind?

You have the statutory right to cancel and return an order up to 7 days from receipt of the goods. The goods must be undamaged. You will be required to cover the cost of the return.

WHICH rooms in my house are suitable for solid wood?

Due to its higher susceptibility to changes in air moisture, solid wood is not suitable to be laid in kitchens and bathrooms.

 

CAN I install solid wood on top of my underfloor heating?

No, solid wood is particularly susceptible to changes in air temperature and humidity levels and so isn’t suitable to be laid on top of underfloor heating .

 

DO I need to leave an expansion gap with solid wood?

Yes, you must to leave the standard recommended 10mm expansion gap when laying solid wood.

 

IS solid wood flooring difficult to install?

Solid wood is the hardest of the main flooring types to install. However, anyone with sound DIY or basic carpentry skills should be able to install it, so long as the manufacturer’s guidelines are followed.

 

HOW long should I leave my solid wood to acclimatise before installation?

Prior to installation, solid wood should be left to acclimatise for a minimum of seven days in the room in which it will be laid.

 

HOW do I clean solid wood flooring?

Regular care and attention will keep your solid wood flooring looking fantastic  for decades to come. Immediately clean up any spills, regularly vacuum (preferably using an upright cleaner), mop without over-wetting and, ideally, use a cleaner as recommended by the manufacturer.

 

CAN solid wood flooring be sanded?

Yes, solid wood can be sanded in order to remove surface scratches and renew its appearance.

 

HARDWOOD FLOORING ENGINEERED WOOD FAQs

 

WHICH rooms in my house are suitable for engineered wood?

Engineered wood is far more resistant to air humidity changes than solid wood and therefore suitable to be laid in all rooms of your house, including kitchens and bathrooms.

 

CAN I install engineered wood on top of my underfloor heating?

Yes, engineered wood can be laid on top of underfloor heating, as long as certain precautions are taken. Check with the manufacturer and your heating engineer prior to installation.

 

DO I still need to leave an expansion gap with engineered wood?

Yes, you must still leave the standard recommended 10mm expansion gap when laying engineered wood.

 

IS engineered wood flooring easy to install?

Thanks to the tongue and groove and one-click systems incorporated in many products, engineered wood is relatively simple to install.

 

DO I need to leave my engineered wood to acclimatise before installation?

Yes. Engineered wood requires less time to acclimatise than solid wood but we still recommend leaving your engineered wood to acclimatise for 48 hours in the room in which it will be laid.

 

HOW do I clean engineered wood flooring?

Regular care and attention will keep your engineered wood in great condition for years to come. Immediately clean up any spills, regularly vacuum (preferably using an upright cleaner), mop without over-wetting and, ideally, use a cleaner as recommended by the manufacturer.

 

CAN engineered wood flooring be sanded?

Yes, engineered wood can be sanded but no more than once to three times, depending upon the thickness of the top layer. Check with your manufacturer prior to sanding.

 

 

LAMINATE FAQs

 

WHICH rooms in my house are suitable for laminate?

Laminate is suitable to be laid in all rooms of your house, including kitchens and bathrooms.

 

CAN I install laminate on top of my underfloor heating?

Yes, laminate is highly suited to be laid on top of underfloor heating.

 

DO I still need to leave an expansion gap with laminate flooring?

Yes, you must still leave the standard recommended 10mm expansion gap when laying laminate.

 

IS laminate flooring easy to install?

Thanks to the one-click system incorporated in many products, laminate is by far the easiest flooring for a DIYer to install.

 

DO I need to leave my laminate to acclimatise before installation?

Yes. Ideally you should leave your laminate to acclimatise for 48 hours in the room in which it will be laid.

 

DO I need to use underlay with laminate?

Yes, prior to fitting any laminate flooring you will need to put down an underlay.

There are three main types of underlay for use beneath laminate flooring:

Polyfoam Underlay, Combined Underlay, and Wood-Fibre Boards.

 

HOW do I clean laminate flooring?

Regular care and attention will keep your laminate in great condition for years to come. Immediately clean up any spills, regularly vacuum (preferably using an upright cleaner), mop without over-wetting the laminate and, ideally, use a cleaner as recommended by the laminate manufacturer.

 

Can laminate flooring be sanded?

No. As it is not a real wood, laminate cannot be sanded.
